Updating a historic neighborhood: Seeking to replace an outdated and small pergola in the historic neighborhood of German Village, REALM was engaged by the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department to design a new larger covered pavilion.  The new architectural feature was designed to offer a place of respite to daily park visitors while also serving as a location for weddings and small performances.

A timeless space: The shape of the structure was inspired by an adjacent home with a gable roof. This subtle yet effective strategy gave this new structure a contextual appropriateness to the residential feel of the neighborhood. The pavilion is almost entirely fabricated from cedar wood with hidden fasteners to retain a timeless and elegant appearance.

Since its completion, a refresh of the park space has been implemented to improve the overall experience for residents and visitors. Numerous events and gatherings have taken place both day and night with the newly-installed ambient lighting fixtures.
