Re-activating a neighborhood: The redevelopment of the Leonard Park neighborhood consists of 90+ acres of existing housing lots and abandoned vacant lots, with adjacencies to John Glenn International Airport and I-670 east of downtown Columbus. There exists tremendous potential for this neighborhood to be reconceived and redeveloped in ways that incorporate and advance best practices in sustainable residential neighborhood design and new ideas of residential living environments, natural landscape design and public space and amenities.

What we did: REALM helped lead the master planning team to examine the redevelopment of the Leonard Park neighborhood as a new type of suburban residential and mixed-use community. The proposal incorporated a variety of residential development types to study with varying densities and urban design amenities, including natural environments for active and passive recreation and other public gathering spaces.
